"She Lives in a Time of Her Own"-Post 23

B
Haven't posted this feature in a while -kind of a tribute to stars who truly shone on the silver and small screen-after  recent news of Honor's passing I had to at least attempt a wee tribute to Catherine the Great -that's what I call Cathy Gale , John Steeds partner in esponiage -between 1962 and 1964 -way before my time but with my love of the 1960's and the black shiny stuff  it's no wonder she was featured heavilly here and on the main blog over the years - Cathy isn't as well known as Emma Peel internationally  as show only went out in United Kingdom originally and I don't think any episodes resurfaced on to tv or videotape untill the 1990's (or maybe late 80's) The show was shot live mostly  a completly different take on the show in comparrison to the later filmed episodes with Emma and Tara . Emma in the first few episodes is very much  in the style that went before with Honor -but as show changed Emma became very much her own character ..

Looks like someones colourised this image wonder if the episode itself will ever be colourised-from what I hear much of the leather gear worn by Honor was actually green (which showed up better in black and white) But this fight suit more than likely this colour.
 Having a laugh with Stones

I would like to think Steed and Bond are cousins -David Niven played Bond in Casino Royale (not sure it's considered offical ) but if the Avengers world clashed with the Bond Universe it might be something like that 1967 movie but make more sense-

I was just reading about Honors WW2 experiences , been a true eastender she would of seen the worst of the Blitz as a teenager , rather than hide in a shelter she became a despatch rider and would roar down the London streets on her motorcycle with no headlamps (as there were blackouts to confuse the Luftwaffen) reminded me of the nurses of today in these pandemic times.
I did see this as a kid I guess I knew Honor from a situation comedy I had no idea about her part in The Avengers till I saw this Theres a theory that Cathy became Pussy Galore as the final episode she appears in the Avengers she mentions she's off to the Bahamas -She would appear again in Goldeneye Rogue Agent a console game from early 2000's much later and far less official(as it's set in an alternaive universe where Bond fails ) Pussy Galore appears as a character in a leather catsuit no less - didn't sound like Honor but did resemble Cathy a little..she also appeared in Goldeneye Reloaded  which was closer to her look in the original film

Would be nice to see Cathy again in a video game always thought a LA Noir styled game would suit the original Avengers- Swinging 60's England would make an interesting backdrop to a sandbox  game

Best bid farewell to Cathy -such a great innovative character , she's bound to live on through fiction  and inspiration
